The Washington Commanders are battling the division rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 of the NFL. It’s a crucial game for both teams as both are coming off a loss in Week 6 and both desperately need a win to keep pace with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Coming into the game, standout running back Dorance Armstrong was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. Armstrong did not participate in practice all week, which is usually not a good sign for a chance to play on Sunday. However, the veteran fought and played anyway, at least for a minute or two.

Armstrong fell and limped off the field early in the first quarter. The defender did not return to action and the team ruled him out for the rest of the game.

This is a big blow for the Commanders, as Armstrong leads the team in sacks in 2025. Armstrong has 5.5 sacks so far, while Von Miller is second on the team with 3.5. Armstrong has had a sack in every game this season except the Week 3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Coming into this game, putting pressure on Dak Prescott was one of the keys to the game for the Commanders. The Cowboys entered Week 7 allowing just over one sack per game, so they’ve done a good job protecting him so far this season.

With about 12 minutes left in the second quarter, the Commanders still had not sacked Prescott. It sure hurts not having Armstrong, but someone else needs to step up and generate some pressure. Daron Payne is the only player with a tackle for loss so far in this matchup.

With just under 11 minutes left in the first half, the Commanders trail the Cowboys 17-8. If the Commanders pull out a win, they will have done so without their top three wide receivers and leading running back. Next on the team’s schedule is a Monday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.
