The S&P 500, which rose 1.1%, is now 0.2% below its October 8 record. The Nasdaq Composite, which rose 1.5%, is down 0.1% from its Oct. 8 closing high. And the Dow Jones is up 520 points, or 1.1%, putting it within 0.1% of its 12th record close of the year.

“The government remains closed this morning as the stalemate between the two parties approaches the start of its fourth week,” Bespoke Investment Group co-founder Paul Hickey wrote. “However, as has been the case almost all along, the markets seem indifferent.”
