Inter Milan full-back Carlos Augusto spoke to the press ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Kairat Almaty.

During a pre-match conference via FCInterNewsHe also reflected on his latest omission from the Brazil team.

Charles Augustus has gained a more prominent role at San Siro this season.

Indeed, Cristian Chivú has deployed the former Monza star in several positions.

In addition to his preferred full-back role, the 26-year-old has also replaced Alessandro Bastoni at centre-back.

Therefore, he has already made 11 appearances in all competitions, including nine in Serie A.

Additionally, he started Inter’s 4-0 victory over Royale Union SG in the previous round of the Champions League.

With Inter very interested in beating Kairat tomorrow, Augusto looks destined for another European start.

However, the Brazilian coach carlo anceloti has excluded the Inter full-back from his squad for the next international break.

Despite returning to the national team last month, Augusto has fallen out of favor again.

“We know that the national team is everyone’s goal in the year of the World Cup,” Augusto admitted. “First of all I want to help Inter win.

“So it is clear that that is also my goal, I must improve to be ready for Brazil.

“The coach chooses and I must respect his decision.

“No one is perfect, I have to improve and I can do it thanks to the staff and colleagues.”

He then gave his verdict on tomorrow’s match.

“We know that in this Champions League it is more important to win the games, the goal difference also matters,” Augusto added.

“There are no easy games, but we play at home and they come to do their job.

“We must think about ourselves and get three points, because then four difficult games will follow.

“The coach always tells us that we must have the concentration that we have in Europe also in the league.

“We know that goal difference is important in the Champions League; we must continue our path.

“After the end of last season, I think the coach and his coaching staff gave us a lot.

“He was a great player and knows how to run the locker room, that gave us back our confidence.

“Now we only think about this season, he gave us the right encouragement.”

“I feel more integrated, also the young players who have arrived,” he admitted. “The coach is always with the group, he rotates…

“This helps a lot, even for those who play less, we work a lot physically.

“When we have our opportunities, we must do the best we can, trying to make it difficult for the coach (to choose).

“We have a great group, as always, I think we will do great things.

“As for the role, I like to play. I’m a winger, I want to learn from Bastoni and Dimarco, who are great players.”

Meanwhile, Augusto also commented on Inter’s growing defensive problems in Serie A.

“There are moments in the game, it is clear that we always want to dominate.

“We must also know how to suffer,” he continued. “Sunday was a difficult game, but last-minute victories count a lot for morale.

“We are doing well, but we can improve if we try to win the competitions we are in.”

Additionally, he reflected on the goal he had conceded in the league on Sunday in the 2-1 win over Hellas Verona.

“It was a case, we must also give credit to the opponents,” said Augusto. “We often work in both phases.

“In games there are moments when we must be more concentrated, do better in the defensive phase.

“We must continue our path, which is more important than victory.”
