But it’s still early November and this weekend offers another opportunity for contenders to win over the masses.
Here are the best matchups from Saturday’s four contests.
#7 BYU at #8 Texas Tech
Saturday, noon ET TV: ABC
The main Big 12 matchup features undefeated BYU visiting Texas Tech. Cougars quarterback Bear Bachmeier faces a relentless Red Raider defense anchored by David Bailey and Jacob Rodriguez. Tech is determined to avoid a second loss and stay ahead of Cincinnati in the race for the league title.
No. 3 Texas A&M at No. 22 Missouri
Saturday, 3:30 pm ET TV: ABC
Texas A&M controls its playoff destiny after debuting as the top SEC team in the CFP rankings. Quarterback Marcel Reed is red hot, with eight touchdowns in two games. On the other hand, Missouri’s stingy defense must rely on freshman Matt Zollers to keep them off the field. A tough task against an undefeated Aggies team looking for a 9-0 record.
Marina at number 10 Notre Dame
Saturday, 7:30 pm ET TV: NBC/Peacock
After a costly loss at North Texas, Navy must regroup against a surging Notre Dame team led by running back Jeremiyah Love. The Irish have been dominant since September and could use a win to bolster their playoff position. Especially after receiving criticism for being ranked 10th in the CFP rankings.
LSU at No. 4 Alabama
Saturday, 7:30 pm ET TV:ABC
This could be the final regular season clash between these bitter SEC rivals. But LSU is limping toward the finish line under interim leadership and the fallout from Brian Kelly’s firing. A bye week could have turned the tide for the Tigers and this could be a serious trap game for fourth-ranked Alabama. The Tide team narrowly escaped South Carolina and has won seven straight after the loss to FSU. Could it be that they are running out of gas late?
