In his 42nd cap, Jonathan Tah wore the captain’s armband for the German national team for the first time in the absence of Joshua Kimmich.
The Bayern Munich defender spoke with pride after Germany’s 2-0 victory over Luxembourg.

“It was really a great honor for me, it means a lot,” Tah told reporters after the match.
“Right now it’s not about me, it’s about qualifying for the World Cup,” added the 29-year-old.
“But I can say that I am very, very proud and very, very grateful to have lived this moment.”
If Joshua Kimmich remains out of Germany’s final World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on Monday, Tah is likely to wear the captain’s armband again.
