New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a serious ankle injury in the Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that required surgery and immediate hospitalization.

It was later revealed that Skattebo had suffered an open ankle dislocation, fractured fibula and torn deltoid ligament. Team doctors had to cut off his shoe on the field to stabilize his ankle before taking him to the hospital.

Although the injury looked and sounded horrible, there was optimism that recovery and rehabilitation would be simple as long as Skattebo avoided infection.

The good news? He has.

During a World of Warcraft stream on Twitch, Skattebo provided an encouraging update on his health and recovery, revealing that he has regained full function in his ankle, foot, and toes.

“The ankle is fine,” he said, leaning back in his chair to show off his regained function. “Update, cat. I can even wiggle my toes and (expletive)… I’m getting better every day. Every day, chat. It’s getting better. I can wiggle my toes, chat.”

Skattebo’s live streams have gained popularity after his injury. An earlier clip of the rookie asking how they eat tacos went viral, as did another clip showing a serious shoulder joint injury from years of playing football.

“I have a twin here,” he said. “I scratch my chin at this.”

On Saturday night, Skattebo appeared at UFC 322, where he sat cageside and met Hasbulla, among other celebrities.

Early expectations are for Skattebo to return when organized team activities begin in April.
