The New York Jets gave Tyrod Taylor the starting nod over Justin Fields last week, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be returning to the former Buckeye anytime soon.

Taylor played well against the Baltimore Ravens, completing 60.7% of his passes for 222 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception.
The veteran quarterback was asked during his media availability Wednesday how Fields has handled being benched.
Tyrod Taylor says Justin Fields is ‘team first’
“His energy hasn’t changed. He’s a leader and one of our captains. He’s a team-first guy,” Taylor told the assembled reporters.
“I respect him so much for that because I know the circumstances are difficult, but I also know that Justin is a believer, he has faith and he stands by that.”

Benching probably wasn’t easy for Fields, but it’s great to see the quarterback still living up to his leadership role as captain.
Fields’ benching was due to his inability to consistently operate the offense at a high level, failing to eclipse 60 yards passing in four of his starts.
The nail in the coffin was the Week 11 primetime loss against the New England Patriots, where he completed 57.7% of his passes for 116 yards.
With Taylor, 35, under center, the Jets’ offense certainly operates better, allowing New York’s pass catchers more opportunities through the air.

Taylor is in line to start New York’s Week 13 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, with Fields set to serve as a backup for the second straight week.
