The Wisconsin Badgers took a big blow to their 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday when 2026 four-star receiver Jayden Petit decommitted from the program.

Petit, a Florida native, was Wisconsin’s highest-rated recruit in the class and a top-100 recruit of the cycle. He had been committed to the Badgers since the summer after an official visit, but continued to receive interest in the midst of a monster fall season.

Unfortunately, Petit decided to retire on Wednesday and found a new home: the Oklahoma Sooners. The four-star was heavily courted by the Sooners in the summer before committing to the Badgers. They remained in the mix throughout the fall and, amid Wisconsin’s offensive struggles in the passing game, ultimately became the favorites to land Petit.

With Petit’s release, the Badgers will have to scramble over the next week to add to their 2026 recruiting class, which only has one wide receiver committed: Zion Legree.

Wisconsin was hoping for three over the summer, and even had commitments from three-star Petit and Tayshon Bardo in addition to Legree. But they mutually parted ways with Bardo, hoping to go elsewhere at the position before attacking targets like Xavier Stinson, who has committed to Iowa.

Wisconsin currently has 13 commitments in its 2026 class, which ranks 71st in the nation according to 247Sports.
