Things got ugly during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 25-3 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 13. Multiple fights broke out during the game, one of which included Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

But that was not the most worrying fight that broke out during the fight. In the fourth quarter, Titans running back Julius Chestnut claimed that Jaguars punter Logan Cooke threatened to kill the Titans running back during that fight.

Chestnut’s initial response read:

“I really don’t know why the gambler did that. Honestly, I was just trying to play hardball, and he came up to me and told me he was going to kill me, you know. So I don’t know what made him do that.”

When pressed, Chestnut said Cooke might have been angry about an earlier play, in which Chestnut blocked Cooke. But the Titans running back said he never received an explanation from Cooke about why the punter was angry.

Chestnut later added, “That was surprising to me. I had never seen anything like that before.”

The dispute between Cooke and Chestnut was probably a result of that blockade. With about 14 minutes left, Chestnut blocked Cooke during a punt return. Cooke was briefly injured on the play and had to leave the game briefly to be evaluated for a concussion. He was cleared to return and was cleared on the team’s next drive.

On this attempt, Chestnut was involved in another big block. After the play, Cooke found Chestnut and ran toward him, sparking a fight on the field. That’s allegedly when Cooke threatened to kill Chestnut.

Cooke and Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik received penalties for unnecessary roughness. Titans safety Mike Brown was also penalized and ejected from the contest.

Cooke has been with the Jaguars since 2018, when the team selected him in the seventh round of the NFL Draft.

It is unclear if he will face punishment following Chestnut’s accusation.
