Aston Villa deal unlikely for Elliott

If certain conditions are met, Unai Emery’s side will have to pay £35m for Elliott. He’s due to play 10 games in total, but right now he’s stuck at seven and doesn’t seem likely to play more.

The latest snub came on Saturday, when Elliott was once again left out of the Premier League squad to face Arsenal. Villa have apparently made up their minds about Elliott and do not appear willing to meet the conditions for a permanent deal.

That of course represents a big financial blow for Liverpool – that they had those 35 million pounds from Villa. Instead, it looks like a pointless transaction as Elliott is set to return to Anfield with just one year left on his contract.

Liverpool will suffer the consequences as no team is likely to match that £35m valuation for a player leaving in 2027.

Ask Aston Villa about Elliott Suggests Slot

Arne Slot declared on Friday that he knows nothing about Elliott’s future at Aston Villa, suggesting journalists should ask Emery any relevant questions.

“No, I haven’t had much contact with him,” he admitted.

“I think only once or twice and that was before he played against Feyenoord away and after he played against Feyenoord away, but that had more to do with him playing against an old club of mine.

“So no, I haven’t been talking to him. I’m aware of his situation, of course. I knew how difficult it already was for him here, so I think I know how he feels right now.

“But you should be asking those questions at Villa and not here when it comes to his playing time there.”
