With the playoffs now officially an afterthought, the Raiders only have pride and perhaps the will to play the rest of the way. These days, they’re playing with draft position as one of the few potential positives.

Going into Week 14, they were fourth overall in the draft order. And by the time the day was over, they had jumped to second place overall.

With their Strength of Schedule (SOS), they would need help moving up the draft order. And they got it. In the first few games, two teams that needed to win did just that. Both the Saints and Titans won, clearing the way for the Raiders to advance. It would depend on the Raiders losing the game against the Broncos. And they did that too.

That means only the New York Giants are ahead of the Raiders in the draft order. That also means the Raiders control their own destiny, because they will face the Giants in Week 17.

1. New York Giants 2-11

2. Las Vegas Raiders 2-11

3. Tennessee Titans 2-11

4. Cleveland Browns 3-10

5. New Orleans Saints 3-10

6. Washington Commanders 3-10

7. New York Jets 3-10

8. Arizona Cardinals 3-10

If things continue this way, that game could be the battle for the number one overall pick. And with the Raiders needing a QB in the worst way, they could certainly use that pick.
