The Houston Rockets have had players with a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one that is not part of any number series for Houston assistant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players throughout Rockets history.

To honor all the players who wore those numbers over the decades, Rockets Wire covers the entire history of the jersey numbers and the players who wore them from the team’s founding all those years ago to the present day.

With seven of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Rockets of all time who wore them, there’s a lot of history to cover.

And for today’s article, we will continue with the 17th of 18 player to wear number 2, wing David Nwaba. After finishing his college career at Cal Poly, Nwaba went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, playing in other leagues until signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017.

The Los Angeles, California, native played the first 20 games of his professional career with the Lakers. He also played for the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets before signing with Houston in 2020. His stay with the team lasted until he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2022.
