How disappointing is the attitude of the Commanders! Class project 2024?

You know what a rhetorical question is.

It is a question that does not require an answer because asking it conveys what the questioner believes should be communicated.

Then, on Wednesday, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn was asked if he had made the impact he needed with the 2024 draft picks. Perhaps the media member simply wanted to see how Quinn would respond, because we all know the 2024 draft class has been a disappointment.

What did Quinn say?

“Yeah, I guess I don’t want to do an end-of-year evaluation, you know, like we’re going to do this week, but it’s really important over the next few weeks what we can do, what we can accomplish,” Quinn responded. “And so everyone, you know, last year’s class, this year’s class, when we have the opportunity to make our mark, we have to be able to do that. So, we can visit that postseason, but I think right now I’m really concerned about their development and play in this sport.”

Washington general manager Adam Peters made a trade in the second round, looking to get an additional draft pick. The level of excitement for this class was high throughout the 2024 season. However, not only are the Commanders now 3-10, but in all honesty, throughout the season, there have been mentions of disappointment regarding several members of the 2024 class.

Quinn was honest in his response, saying he’s “really concerned about them developing and playing well in this game.”

Hey, if you were Dan Quinn and saw how this class has played all season, you’d be pretty worried too. How does Quinn feel when week after week he sees this team not getting much out of the class of 2024 that is supposed to be an important part of the future?

  • Jayden Daniels QB (2): After a spectacular 2024, Daniels has struggled in 2025 and has been injured in four games this season.

  • Jer’Zhan Newton DT (36): Selected to step in and succeed Jon Allen and Daron Payne, the former Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year has yet to show anything resembling such an award.

  • Mike Sainristil CB (50): After making some really good plays and playing well in the 2024 playoffs, Sainristil has struggled all season and has been very disappointing.

  • Ben Sinnott TE (53): Outside of special teams, Sinnott has not produced offensively. Now, with Zach Ertz injured, Sinnott will be watched closely to see if he can begin to produce.

  • Brandon Coleman OL (67): Coleman was the starting left guard, but lost his job to Chris Paul. Worse yet, he found himself with a healthy, inactive scratch for five straight weeks. He recently returned, replacing Trent Scott as an extra lineman when the Commanders go with a large group.

  • Luke McCaffrey WR (100): McCaffrey certainly had his chance to show his ability, with injuries to receivers. However, he hasn’t shown the ability to get open regularly. The positive is that he managed to return kickoffs this season. He missed the season several weeks ago with a broken collarbone.

  • Jordan Magee LB (139): They keep telling us how special, explosive and athletic Magee is. He’s made some good plays, but overall there’s been little production, leading us to wonder if Magee will make it.

  • Dominique Hampton S/LB (161): Hampton was so ineffective that he was released during the preseason.

  • Javontae Jean-Baptiste DE (222): For such a low pick, he has shown promise, but there is no evidence that he is an impact player. He was also injured earlier this season.

Imagine Quinn and Peters’ weekly discussions, shaking their heads at how this class has let them down during the 2025 season.
