Browns bring back DT Mo Hurst II amid series of roster moves

The Cleveland Browns made a number of roster moves on Wednesday, but chief among them was bringing back defensive tackle Mo Hurst II, who spent the last two seasons with the team.

Hurst was signed to the practice squad and to make room for him, the Browns released defensive tackle Simeon Barrow from the reserve unit. Hurst, who has suffered season-ending injuries in back-to-back seasons, is now healthy enough to return to football. The former Michigan player has been a fan favorite in Cleveland for the past two seasons, so it makes sense that the two sides decided to team up once again.

However, adding Hurst II to the practice squad wasn’t the only move the Browns made. In fact, they have made movements in groups. Here are all the roster moves the Browns made ahead of their Week 15 game against the Bears:

Browns place two on injured reserve

The Browns have placed two players from their 53-man roster on Injured Reserve. Starting center Ethan Pocic’s season has ended with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Running back Jerome Ford’s season, and potentially his time with the Browns, also ended with a shoulder injury that landed him on the disabled list.

Browns sign two to active roster from other practice squads

The Browns have added offensive tackle Jeremiah Byers to their 53-man roster. He was released from the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad. After also placing Ford on IR, the Browns added Trayveon Williams to their active roster off the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad. Williams spent time in Cleveland this summer.

Browns sign one to their practice squad, give up safety to make room

Cornerback Tre Avery has been recalled from the practice squad in Cleveland. He has appeared in six games with the Browns this season as a member of the active roster and as a game-day lift for the practice squad. To clear a roster spot for Avery, the Browns have released safety Christopher Edmonds.
