ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Two teams are making their debut in a University Interscholastic League football championship game.

On Wednesday night, either Hamilton or Joaquin will claim their first state title. The Hamilton Bulldogs take on the Rams of Joaquin for the UIL 2A Division I championship at AT&T Stadium.

Hamilton is 13-2 overall. The Bulldogs enter Wednesday’s title game on a 10-game winning streak.
They began the postseason with a 42-20 victory against Tioga in the bi-district round. They have scored 29 points or fewer in the next four games, but have continued to find a way to win, including last week’s 28-12 semifinal victory against Stinnett West Texas.

Joaquín will also make his first trip to “Jerry World”. The Rams finished the regular season 6-4, but improved things a bit in the playoffs.
Joaquin has scored at least 35 points in all five of his playoff wins, including 74 in a regional semifinal against Elysian Fields. In last week’s semifinal round, the Rams defeated Refugio, 37-28.
