Vakalahi, who was born in New Zealand and played rugby in Australia, was signed as an undrafted free agent last season and the Eagles received a roster exemption due to the NFL’s International Pathway Program. At 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, he played eight snaps at left tackle in the 2024 preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings, allowing one sack, according to Pro Football Focus. He was initially waived during final cuts, but was later signed to the practice squad. Although he did not play in any games during the regular season or playoffs, as a member of the practice squad he is still eligible to receive a ring.
He played 12 snaps at left tackle during the team’s first preseason game in 2025 against the Cincinnati Bengals and allowed a rush, but was ultimately released during the team’s final cuts, but did not re-sign with the team. Vakalahi has shown interest in continuing to play in the league and recently worked out for the Green Bay Packers.
