NFLSU Week 16 Recap

As most of us relax at work as the holidays approach, the NFL season is revving up in anticipation of playoff time. Here we’ll look at an action-packed Week 16, but only from the perspective of LSU alumni.

Rams 37 at Seahawks 38 (overtime)

Omar Speights led the Rams with seven tackles and Anthony Bradford blocked.

Eagles 29 in Commanders 18

I don’t care, unfortunately.

NFLSU Score: 0/10

Packers 16 vs. Bears 22 (overtime)

One of the most exciting and critical games of the season… but unfortunately we don’t care either!

NFLSU Score: 0/10

Jets 6 in Santos 29

Foster Moreau caught a pass for five yards, but an injury to Mason Taylor robbed us of an incredibly rare LSU Tight End Bowl. Davon Godchaux had two tackles.

NFLSU Score: 3/10

Bills 23 at Browns 20

Grant Delpit and Tre’Davious White each had four tackles, while the latter also had a pass deflected. Reid Ferguson blurted out for a long time.

NFLSU Score: 6/10

Bosses 9 in Titans 26

Kristian Fulton was tied with a game-high 10 tackles against the team that drafted him. That’s also the most he’s had in a game in his six-year career. Arden Key had an innings and Lloyd Cushenberry was broken for a long time.

Chargers 34 vs. Cowboys 17

Austin Deculus blocked. Donte Jackson played but left with a groin injury.

NFLSU Score: 3/10

Vikings 16 in Giants 13

Despite a disgusting offensive game, Justin Jefferson held his own with 85 yards on six receptions. Jay Ward had a career-high six tackles and Cor’Dale Flott had a pass deflected.

NFLSU Score: 6/10

Buccaneers 20 to Panthers 23

Damien Lewis blocked.

NFLSU Score: 2/10

Bengals 45 vs. Dolphins 21

While it probably didn’t cure all the nihilism Joe Burrow has exhibited in recent weeks, completely destroying the Dolphins defense for a blowout victory had to feel good.

Joe was 25/32 for 309 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Ja’Marr Chase didn’t have any of those touchdowns, but his nine receptions and 109 yards were game-highs.

Ja’Marr is also now five for five in being a Pro Bowler every year of his professional career.

It won’t solve any of their long-term problems, but it’s refreshing to see these guys have a game like this again. The next offseason will be long. We will enjoy these highlights on any given day in May.

NFLSU Score: 8/10

Jaguars 34 at Broncos 20

Brian Thomas Jr. caught two passes for 18 yards. These Jaguars suddenly look like Super Bowl contenders.

NFLSU Score: 3/10

Falcons 26 vs. Cardinals 19

BJ Ojulari had two sacks, including his first sack since his rookie season in 2023.

NFLSU Score: 3/10

Raiders 21 at Texans 23

Derek Stingley Jr. did something Sunday that he never did at LSU…score a touchdown!

Stingley was also named to the Pro Bowl, the only other Tiger besides Chase to receive that honor.

You may have noticed that Danielle Hunter received pressure to force that pick-six. He had three tackles, including a sack. Damone Clark also had an entrance.

As good as Stingley is, I’ll say it once: he’s not perfect. Do you know who is capable of defeating him? His former LSU teammate, Jack Bech.

Bech caught two passes for 43 yards. In the least surprising news of this recap, Devin White led the game with 11 tackles. Jamal Adams had three. Not enough, Ed Ingram blocked! Did you know? Yes, this gets a 10. I think this is the first of this terrible season. We deserve at least one.

NFLSU Score: 10/10

Acereros 29 in Leones 24

Patrick Queen had seven tackles.

Patriots 28 in Ravens 24

Kayshon Boutte only caught one pass, but it was a spectacular 16-yarder. K’Lavon Chaisson had three tackles, including one that forced a fumble that sealed the game.

Emery Jones participated in several plays.
