It was quite a hectic week for Illinois’ Ben Humrichous.

On Monday, he helped Illinois to a record-breaking victory over Missouri in the annual Braggin’ Rights game.

On Tuesday, he married former Illini basketball player Adalia McKenzie.

“It was beautiful. A lot of fun. Adalia looked beautiful. It was amazing,” Humrichous said Sunday before the Illini’s final non-conference matchup against Southern. “The gospel was proclaimed. We planned a wedding in three months, so I wasn’t sure how long it would be, but it was exactly how God wanted it to be and it was fun.”

Humrichous, in his final year of college basketball, also said he recognizes some of the challenges his new married life will face.

“I’m excited to see how it goes,” Humrichous said. “I can only imagine that part of being married presents new challenges or frees me from a lot of challenges. But what’s been great is that I can compartmentalize. When I come home, I’ll be home. Hopefully, this will bring new challenges, but it will answer a lot of prayers.”

Some members of the Illini program attended Tuesday’s wedding, including head coach Brad Underwood.
