The former Manchester City and Leicester City manager admitted some frustration after watching his team create plenty of scoring chances in a 1-1 draw on New Year’s Day, but said his players were only “human”.

With the result, Cardiff maintained their three-point lead at the top of League One with a team showing six changes as Barry-Murphy looked to keep his team “fresh and ready” during the demanding festive period.
“I can’t ask anything more from the players, apart from wanting to score the goals that we think we deserve,” he said after the draw against 13th-placed Wanderers.
“We have been very dominant in the game and created a lot of good opportunities, opportunities that we would normally take advantage of.
“(At Wycombe) we just couldn’t do it and I’m very pleased again with a lot of the performance.

“We went to Lincoln and Bolton, places like that, and put in what we thought were good performances, but we didn’t create enough chances.
“We produced a lot of chances (against Wycombe) and some of our play was exciting at times. Overall I’m very pleased with the performance but naturally we wanted to have a bit more and score goals.”
Ronan Kpakio, Dylan Lawlor, Joel Colwill, Alex Robertson and Omari Kellyman returned to the Bluebirds starting XI at Adams Park, along with Gabriel Osho, who had been absent since early December when he dislocated a toe.
And Barry-Murphy was delighted with the performance of centre-back Osho (pictured above), who has had limited playing time since his £1m transfer from Auxerre in the summer.

“Brilliant performance, I’m very happy to have him involved again and I think more than anything he wants to show his teammates and fans what he can do. I think you saw clear signs of what he will bring to our team when he is fully fit,” he added.
“He’s only had a few days of training, so he was pretty fatigued when he came out. We made a lot of changes because we wanted to produce a really energetic and highly dynamic performance for our traveling fans in such numbers, and we did just that.”
Barry-Murphy now hopes to make further changes for Sunday’s home game against Wigan (15:00 GMT).
“I think we have a very young team and they’ve never been through this kind of schedule before, so, you know, all the players we feel have such ability that we can play any player in any position, at any stage,” he said.
“It’s not just rotating because we believe a lot in the players and as such we have to reflect that in the teams we choose.”
