Fulham looking to move to sign £35m ahead
Fulham’s planning for January has a clear objective. TEAMtalk’s Dean Jones reports that Marco Silva’s side remain interested in PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi, with two factors deciding whether this becomes a deal this month.

Jones writes: “Fulham face an uphill battle in their quest to sign Ricardo Pepi from PSV Eindhoven, with sources telling TEAMtalk the two conditions for a January transfer to take place.” In short, Fulham need to get closer to PSV’s valuation, and Pepi may need to apply pressure, a dynamic captured by the report’s focus on the player “pressing to move”.
PSV’s position marked by the title race
TEAMtalk claims: “Pepi has been told that PSV want to keep him until the end of the season, even as they wait for Fulham to return with a renewed offer.” The league context makes it easier to defend, and the report adds: “PSV are 11 points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table after 17 matchdays and do not want to risk a collapse in the second half of the season.”

PSV is also holding its own financially. Jones said: “Sources have told us that PSV are not in a situation where they need to cash in and that the player has been informed of their position.” That removes the usual January pressure point and leaves Fulham needing either a premium fee or a player-led push, ideally both.
Fulham’s latest offer and upcoming changes
Fulham’s first offer has already been rejected. TEAMtalk reports: “Fulham made an initial £26 million (€30 million, $35 million) bid for the US international striker, which was rejected by the Dutch giants, and they are now considering a second offer.” The second offer is where the intention becomes unmistakable.
The report is blunt about the number that matters: “We understand that a deal can only be done if the player pushes for a move to Fulham and the next offer is closer to his £35m (€40.1m, $47.1m) valuation.” If Fulham get close to that figure, they will be buying more than goals: they will be buying a striker with resale value and real upside.

Profile of Pepi and Marco Silva in shape
Pepi’s production explains the attention. TEAMtalk notes: “Pepi, who has scored seven goals in seven Eredivisie starts and three goals in four Champions League appearances for PSV this season, is interested in a move to the Premier League,” and that’s the kind of line Fulham fans are clinging to in January.
The World Cup angle is still important. The report adds that Pepi “also knows that his preparation for the World Cup will continue comfortably if he stays at PSV for now.” Fulham’s tone, then, has to be minutes, role and drive, with Silva offering a clear path to becoming the focal point of a team that believes it can climb.
Our opinion: analysis of the EPL index
This report excites me as a Fulham fan, because it sounds like ambition with a plan. Pepi feels like the profile we needed, young, mobile and already giving results in big competitions. When TEAMtalk say they are “interested in a move to the Premier League”, it’s hard not to imagine them feeding off the service we created and giving us that ruthless advantage in the box.

PSV’s stance is tough and “PSV wants to keep him until the end of the season”, so Fulham will have to act decisively. Still, if it really depends on the player “pressing to move”, that’s where belief grows. If Pepi wants this, Silva can sell him on the idea of being the main man, not a team option, and that’s important for a 22-year-old watching the World Cup.
We are “11th in the Premier League table with 27 points from 19 games” and are “just three points off the European places in the table.” That’s exactly why it’s worth striving for. A clinical striker can turn small margins into points. If the club backs Silva anywhere near that £35m level, it indicates Fulham are ready to build, not simply survive, and that is the energy I want to see at Craven Cottage.
