TGL’s second game of the season took place Friday night at the SoFi Center and featured Boston Common Golf and Los Angeles Golf Club and ended up marking league and franchise history for one side of the equation.
Boston survived Los Angeles and, in doing so, earned its first victory as a franchise. It was strange that they went all of last season without one, but they are officially undefeated after their debut in season two.

From a roster standpoint, Boston’s half featured Rory McIlroy and Keegan Bradley with Michael Thorbjornsen as a backup. Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala completed the Los Angeles team.

Hole 6 (Stinger): Thorbjornsen handled the iconic cliff well and this helped Boston get another hole to tie the match at 2-2.

Hole 7 (Cliffhanger): Justin Rose put Collin Morikawa in position to make a birdie to win and retake the lead at 3-2.

Hole 8 (Flex): Boston strategically hit a hammer with Rory McIlroy facing a testy putt to win it all and it was eventually accepted and served as a double point when Rory made it, giving Boston a 4-3 lead.

As this was Boston Common Golf’s first win, it marked the first TGL win for a specific individual: Rory McIlroy. This particular match was Rory’s first in TGL since winning the Masters last year, so perhaps achieving the professional Grand Slam really served as a breakthrough.
TGL returns next Tuesday at 4:00 pm CT with The Bay Golf Club taking on Atlanta Drive GC (1-0).
