For the second consecutive offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders will be searching for a new head coach.

News broke Monday morning that the Raiders would be parting ways with Pete Carroll after one season, which ended with a disappointing 3-14 overall record, the worst among the 32 NFL teams. Carroll had initially signed a three-year contract with the franchise. This year also stands out as the season with the lowest winning percentage and fewest overall wins of Carroll’s head coaching career, which spans 19 seasons in the NFL and 9 in the NCAA.

In the franchise’s official announcement, written by owner Mark Davis, it was announced that General Manager John Spytek will work alongside minority owner Tom Brady to guide the franchise going forward, and both will be responsible for the upcoming coaching search facing the franchise.

“The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Pete Carroll of his duties as head coach. We appreciate and wish him and his family all the best. Going forward, General Manager John Spytek will lead all football operations closely with Tom Brady, including the search for the club’s next head coach. Together, they will guide football decisions with a shared focus on leadership, culture and alignment with the organization’s long-term vision and goals.”

Carroll is the third coach to join the “Black Monday” bloodbath, with the Falcons starting Sunday night by firing Raheem Morris and the Browns continuing the action by cutting ties with Kevin Stefanski early Monday morning. Overall, he is the fifth coach to be fired this season, with the Titans firing Brian Callahan and the Giants firing Brian Daboll midseason.
