Swiss glass packaging supplier Vetropack Group has appointed Lukas Burkhardt as CEO effective January 1, 2026.
He succeeded Johann Reiter, who retired after leading the company since 2018.
Burkhardt has been part of the management of Gerresheimer since 2018 and is responsible for the glass sector for primary packaging.
He previously worked at Audi in Germany and at Rieter Automotive Group (now Autoneum), focusing particularly on operations in Asia.
In 2015, Burkhardt joined Franke Group’s executive board as chief operating officer, overseeing production at more than 30 sites, as well as logistics, procurement and engineering.
Burkhardt said: “I am looking forward to taking on my new role and leading Vetropack into the future.
“For me, Vetropack is a traditional company with enormous potential: as a family business, we are firmly established in the market and have enormous experience in developing one of the most sustainable packaging solutions available. We are also well positioned internationally and have a team of experts in all our locations. If we play these trump cards well, we can succeed even in the currently very challenging market environment.”
Vetropack Chairman of the Board Claude Cornaz commented: “We have our preferred candidate for the CEO position in Lukas Burkhardt. He knows our industry and understands how it works. At the same time, he brings new ideas and concepts from his previous positions to our company.”
During Reiter’s tenure as CEO, Vetropack introduced thermally tempered lightweight glass bottles and developed the 2030+ Strategy.
Cornaz added: “Johann Reiter successfully led the Vetropack Group since 2018. In particular, he drove the internationalization and strategic restructuring of the Group. Johann Reiter initiated important developments and thus had a lasting impact on Vetropack.”
