After entering the transfer portal last week, Michigan freshman safety Jordan Young has officially withdrawn his name and will return to Ann Arbor for 2026.
Young entered the portal last Tuesday night after a season in which he played in nine games and racked up 15 total tackles and three pass deflections. The three pass deflections came in Michigan’s final four games of the season, and one of them was the biggest play of his young career thus far late in the game against Northwestern at Wrigley Field.
This is fantastic news, not only because Young has a lot of untapped potential and will benefit greatly from Kyle Whittingham’s defensive staff led by coordinator Jay Hill, but because the defensive backroom was starting to look a little thin. After Young’s entry, Michigan also has other players in the portal secondary: TJ Metcalf, Tevis Metcalf, Brandyn Hillman and Jayden Sanders. Young’s return certainly helps with depth, at least, and he could even earn a starting role if things go well for him this offseason.
