Spartans transfer DE commits to group of five top schools

A former Spartans favorite has landed through the transfer portal at one of the top five programs in the country.

Michigan State football transfer running back Stone Chaney has committed to Memphis. Chaney announced his commitment to the Tigers via a social media post on Monday.

Chaney was a former three-start prospect in the class of 2024 and came to Michigan State as a preferred candidate. He is originally from Novi, Michigan, and starred at Michigan powerhouse Detroit Catholic Central.

At Michigan State, Chaney appeared in just one game in two seasons, recording two tackles against Prairie View A&M during the 2024 season. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
