Thawani Technologies (Thawani Pay), a fintech payments service licensed in Oman, has signed a strategic partnership with Network International to support innovation in digital payments and expand credit card capabilities in the country.

The partnership follows Thawani Pay’s recent progress in the card sector, including obtaining a Visa license to issue credit cards.

The agreement was signed by Thawani Pay Founder and CEO Majid Al Amri and Network International CEO and Co-Head of Processing (Middle East) Navneet Dave.

Majid Al Amri said: “The partnership with Network International strengthens our ability to deliver world-class card processing capabilities and confidently scale our Visa-powered credit card roadmap.

“By combining Thawani Pay’s deep local market knowledge with Network’s global standards and processing strength, we will deliver a seamless, secure, app-based card experience, supporting Oman’s shift towards a cashless and digitally inclusive future.”

Under the agreement, Network International will provide credit card processing services to Thawani Pay. Thawani Pay will use it to support its credit card roadmap.

The partners said they plan to combine Network International’s processing capabilities and regional infrastructure with Thawani Pay’s local market presence. They stated that the collaboration aims to introduce new payment proposals, support financial inclusion initiatives and contribute to the country’s long-term digital transformation agenda.

Navneet Dave added: “This agreement underlines Network International’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Omani market to actively shape the future of digital commerce and the government’s ambitious vision of digitizing payments and services.

“We look forward to bringing our proven expertise to facilitate digital transformation through fintech and contribute to Oman’s changing financial landscape.”

In particular, Oman’s digital payments activity has continued to increase as cashless adoption increases and regulation supports market development. Card and point-of-sale transaction volumes reached 432.9 million in 2024, according to figures cited in the announcement.
