A winter storm warning will go into effect for the entire Commonwealth and parts of Indiana at 1 a.m. Saturday and will last until 7 a.m. Jan. 26. The National Weather Service predicts the heaviest snowfall will begin around 5 to 8 a.m. Saturday in far southwestern Kentucky and affect Louisville between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The heavy snow is expected to end after 7 pm on Sunday.

According to the latest forecast, Louisville residents have a 70% chance of seeing more than 8 inches of snow and a 40-60% chance of seeing more than 12 inches. Temperatures are expected to drop to 10 degrees on Saturday, with a wind chill of -3 degrees.

Speaking to reporters Thursday morning, UofL coach Pat Kelsey encouraged fans to brave the weather and create a “great home atmosphere” for the Quad 2 game.

“I know the biggest storm in the history of the world is supposedly coming,” he joked. “…If you have to shovel the driveway, if you have to shovel snow, if you have to start the car an hour early and warm it up again, (if you have to) borrow your neighbors’ four-wheel drive vehicle, go to the Yum! Center.
