ReutersMeta has presented a new range of smart glasses fed by its artificial intelligence (AI) technology, since it expands its commitment that they will be an essential accessory for users around the world.
In his annual developer conference “Meta Connect”, the head of the social networks giant, Mark Zuckerberg, announced a variety of devices in association with the marks of Sun Glasses Ray-Ban and Oakley.
The firm also introduced a so-called neuronal bracelet that is combined with its goal glasses Ray-Ban to allow users to carry out tasks such as sending messages with small gestures with their hands.
The event occurs when the Facebook owner, Instagram and WhatsApp faces continuous scrutiny about the impact of their products, particularly on children.
He called the technology a “great scientific advance” before an hundred audience met at the company’s Silicon Valley campus.
The Ray-Ban target screen comes with a full-colored high resolution screen in a lens where users can make video calls and watch messages. It also has a 12 megapixel camera.
Zuckerberg expects the goal line of intelligent finishing accessories to be a key platform to integrate its artificial intelligence tool, goal AI, in people’s lives.
Analysts say that smart glasses are likely to be more successful than the company’s multi -million dollar project: virtual worlds to connect users in digital environments.
“Unlike VR headphones, glasses are a factor in a daily and not friendly way,” said Forrester Vice President Mike Proulx.
But, he added, “the responsibility is in the finish line to convince the vast majority of people who do not have the glasses of the benefits exceed the cost.”
ReutersThe company said it does not discuss sales information, but it is understood that it sold around two million pairs of smart glasses since it entered the market in 2023.
The screen will be available this month and will be sold for $ 799 (£ 586), hundreds of dollars more than the current finishing glasses.
Leo Gebbie of CCS Insight said he is skeptical that he will win as much traction as the other intelligent goal models.
“The rays have done well because they are easy to use, discreet and relatively affordable,” Gebbie said.
Mr. Zuckerberg also presented $ 499 Glases Oakley Meta Vanguard, who are aimed at sports enthusiasts, as well as the second generation of Meta-Ban Ray-Ban glasses, with a price of $ 379.
Currently, goal is in the middle of a massive spree of expenses, since it reinforces its AI operations.
Zuckerberg said in July that the company would spend hundreds of billions of dollars to build A -expansion data centers in the United States.
One of the sites is expected to cover an area that is almost the size of Manhattan.
This AI infrastructure investment is complemented by a great expense in the hiring of talents of rival companies.
Meta has said that he would develop what he called “superintelligence”, the technology of AI that can overcome human beings.
Parents protests
Earlier on Wednesday, activists and relatives of suicide victims protested at the Meta headquarters in New York, demanding more safeguards for children on social media platforms, including the company’s property.
Last week, two former Meta Security researchers declared before the United States Senate who target covered possible damage to children derived from their virtual reality products.
Jason Sattizahn and Cayce Savage said the company told internal researchers to avoid work that could cause evidence of damage to children of their VR products.
Goal has denied the accusations and described the “meaningless” statements.
