Florian Plettenberg reports that exiled Hoffenheim attacker Mërgim Berisha will move to 2. Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern on transfer deadline day. The Pfälzer Red Devils will acquire the former German international without paying a transfer fee to Hoffenheim. Instead, Hoffenheim have secured a resale clause in case Berisha can revive his career.

Hoffenheim has been trying to get rid of Berisha for some time

Berisha has mainly existed as a thorn in the side of TSG’s management for over a year. The 27-year-old reportedly turned down a deal with Hertha based on the fact that he did not wish to take a pay cut. Hoffenheim demoted Berisha to the reserves this season and he hasn’t even featured there.

Kaiserlautern desperately need a striker

At last, it seems that the desperation of all parties involved will lead to an agreement finally being reached. Lautern has been hit hard by the injury to top scorer Ivan Pertain this weekend. Berisha’s current Bundesliga team also has no problem parting with its unused striker for free.
