In 2024, Barry was hired as the Dolphins’ linebackers coach and running game coordinator under former head coach Mike McDaniel.

Before that, Barry spent three seasons as the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2024. However, he has no experience working under new Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley or new defensive coordinator Sean Duggan. Hafley and Duggan arrived in Green Bay in 2024, immediately after Barry left the team.
Barry wasn’t the most popular coach in Green Bay, after three straight seasons in which his defense finished 13th, 10th and 17th in points allowed.
But with the Dolphins, Barry’s work with the linebackers has been fantastic. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks had his first All-Pro season with Barry and let the NFL make tackles. As running game coordinator, his impact on Miami’s running backs also cannot be understated. Running back De’Von Achane had a career year last season, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns while leading the league in yards per carry (5.7).

As the Dolphins continue to hire more coaches, Hafley is opting to keep Barry in the same role for the time being.
