A loss is never ideal and moral victories only go so far, but head coach Trisha Ford walked away encouraged by what she saw. The Aggies hit the ball hard, played tough defense and, most notably, held their own in the circle against one of the most explosive offenses in the country.
“I was really proud of our fight. I think we obviously had a little nerves in that first inning. I thought Lessentine did a great job of calming down and hitting his pitches and I thought all of our arms did a really good job. I mean, we hit some balls hard tonight and they just didn’t fall. You know, for me it was the little things.”
Now 4-1, the Aggies are playing as well as could be expected from a roster full of new faces, new defensive lineups and a pitching staff that replaced more than 41% of last season’s innings led by All-American Emiley Kennedy. With the SEC still weeks away, the question is how much this group can grow as roles solidify and the lineup finds its groove.
