Silverfin, a cloud-based accounting software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, has promoted An Maes to the role of CEO, effective this month.

Maes joined Silverfin in 2019 after spending more than seven years at EY working as an accountant.

She most recently held the position of international managing director at Silverfin, overseeing its expansion outside its home market of Belgium. In that role, he also worked on building links with large international networks and brands.

In his new role, Maes will be responsible for driving the company’s global growth strategy and expanding its range of products and services.

Maes will focus on increasing adoption of Silverfin’s cloud platform in target markets including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Denmark.

He is also tasked with expanding the reach of the company’s platform-as-a-service model among accounting practices and software partners globally, while strengthening Silverfin’s presence in Belgium’s accounting and finance sector.

Additionally, Maes will work to help companies standardize and automate compliance activities, as well as improve the quality and oversight of client portfolios.

Maes said: “AI is fundamentally reshaping the way accounting firms operate. As compliance becomes increasingly automated and standardized, firms have a real opportunity to differentiate themselves through higher-margin advisory services.

“Silverfin plays a central role in that change. Our next step is to accelerate international growth while continuing to optimize compliance at scale and strengthening the knowledge companies have about their processes and portfolios.

“Delivering on that ambition depends on the strength of our teams and continuing to invest in the people who build and support our platform every day.”

Founded in Ghent, Belgium, in 2013, Silverfin says its cloud platform is now used by more than 1,000 accounting practices worldwide.

The SaaS platform was acquired by software group Visma in 2023.

“SaaS Accounting Platform Silverfin Appoints An Maes to CEO Role” was created and originally published by International Accounting Bulletin, a brand owned by GlobalData.
