Hong Kong-based restaurant group Itacho Sushi has ceased operations in Singapore, following a series of outlet closures over the past year, according to a report from The times of the strait.
According to the report, the company’s last four locations at Ion Orchard, Bugis Junction, The Star Vista and Square 2 in Novena were marked as “permanently closed” on Google Maps.
Itacho Sushi’s online presence also appears to have been removed. Their corporate website is no longer accessible and their social media pages are unavailable.
Additionally, its mobile app, previously used to navigate the menu, place orders, and access rewards, also disappeared from major app stores.
These developments come after the closure of stores in Tampines Mall and Bedok Mall.
There has been no public communication or formal announcement from the company about the closures.
The brand launched in Hong Kong in 2004 under the Taste of Japan group and became known for its hand-made sushi and salmon-focused menu. It left its home market in the late 2000s and debuted in Singapore in 2009.
Government portal Bizfile lists Itacho BM, which operates the chain in Singapore, as “classified for deletion” from the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority’s Register of Companies.
Singapore’s withdrawal comes on the heels of developments in its home market. In December 2024, the South China Morning Post reported that Itacho Sushi’s last restaurant in Hong Kong had closed following the death of founder Ricky Cheng.
Recently, gourmet cafe and grocery store The Providore Singapore closed all its outlets in the country. It had six offices in the country.
