Jimmy Kimmel will return Tuesday night, less than a week after ABC took abruptly Jimmy Kimmel Live! Outside the air about the comments that the night host made about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The show is transmitted at 11:35 PM ET and PT/10: 35 ct. But two main owners of ABC Affiliates, the Sinclair and Nexstar transmission group, say they will not transmit the program in dozens of local stations throughout the country in the midst of ongoing discussions with the network.

“From Tuesday night, Sinclair will advance Jimmy Kimmel Live! In our ABC affiliated stations and replacing it with news programming, “Sinclair said in a statement on Monday.” The discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the potential performance of the program. “

Nexstar issued a similar statement on Tuesday, saying that their ABC affiliates will issue local news and other programs while their conversations with the network continue.

“We made a decision last week to avoid ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Following what ABC referred to as the ‘evil and insensitive’ comments by Mr. Kimmel at a critical moment in our national speech, “said Nexstar. “We take advantage of that pending guarantee that all parties are committed to fostering a respectful and constructive dialogue environment in the markets we serve.”

After ABC announced that he was suspending the program indefinitely on September 17, Sinclair said he would not raise the suspension “until formal discussions are maintained with ABC regarding the commitment of the network with professionalism and responsibility.”

Sinclair also asked Kimmel to make a “direct apology” and a “significant personal donation” to the Kirk family and the US turning point. UU., The Kirk conservative youth organization co -founded.

During his monologue on September 15, Kimmel said that President Trump’s supporters were trying to “score political points” portraying the murderer accused of Kirk, Tyler Robinson, 22, as a radical left, and suggested that Robinson was “one of them.”

On September 17, ABC said that Kimmel’s show would be advanced indefinitely. The measure occurred after Brendan Carr, president of the Federal Communications Commission, characterized Kimmel’s comments as “truly sick”, and threatened to punish ABC and his Disney parent company about comments.

“This is a very, very serious problem at this time for Disney,” said Carr. “We can do this easily or in a difficult way. These companies can find ways to take measures on Kimmel or there will be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

Kimmel’s suspension caused a strong reaction, with critics asking for a boycott from Disney, and hundreds of Hollywood stars signing an open letter condemning the decision to get it out of the air.

In his statement announcing Kimmel’s return, Disney said “he made the decision to suspend production in the program to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.”

“It is a decision that we make because we feel that some of the comments were wrong and, therefore, insensitive,” said Disney, adding: “We have spent the last days with reflexive conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we made the decision to return the program on Tuesday.”

Sinclair operates 39 ABC affiliated stations in 18 states and the Columbia district, according to its website. Nexstar has 24 ABC Affiliates and is associated with nine other stations in more than 20 states, according to its website.
