What the 49ers do there will help determine what general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan think about the team heading into the 2026 season. They could add more offensive firepower, upgrade the defense or find depth pieces in either or both of these picks.

CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson took a more pragmatic approach in his latest mock draft. Wilson selected Utah tackle Caleb Lomu at No. 27 before adding Florida cornerback Devin Moore at No. 58.
Maybe we’ll look back in a few years and see that Lomu is the best tackle in the class. In San Francisco, he will be ready to replace Trent Williams when he finally leaves his position.
This is a future move for a 49ers team that looks much different when Williams is not in the lineup. However, whether or not that will happen this year, next year, or later is yet to be determined.
The 49ers’ other pick, Moore, would give San Francisco considerable depth at cornerback. Moore is 6-foot-3, 198 pounds and tallied five interceptions over the past three seasons for Florida. However, he has only played in 30 games in four seasons, and his 4.50-second 40-yard dash time leaves a little to be desired for the position.
However, San Francisco doesn’t have much outside cornerback support after Deommodore Lenoir and Renardo Green, so taking Moore in the second round would certainly complete the unit for Raheem Morris’ defense.
