Mostly dry skies, highs in the 70s for Detroit Tigers opening day

Fans heading downtown for the Detroit Tigers’ home opener on Friday, April 3, can prepare for a mostly dry day, especially during the game.

National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Kacan said any morning rain should end around 8 a.m., with highs reaching the 70s and dry conditions for most of the afternoon.

The day will be unusually warm across metro Detroit – about 20 degrees above normal for early April.

Winds are expected to be light in the morning between 20 and 25 mph, but will gradually decrease throughout the day.

“Friday should be dry until after 8 p.m., when the chances of showers and thunderstorms begin to increase,” Kacan said.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s overnight Friday into Saturday, April 4.
