Of course, the Commanders didn’t do a complete rebrand or anything like that. Rather, the team is returning to its roots, returning to the Super Bowl-era uniforms that fans love. On Wednesday, before the team’s launch party, players got a chance to see the new look and the team’s account posted their reactions.
“You all did something big with this,” proclaimed new cornerback Amik Robertson. “This color here reminds me of Sean Taylor’s number 21, the best.”Advertisement
Veteran Jeremy Reaves, who has been in Washington since 2018, was excited to bring back the traditional look.
“Classic, I love it,” Reaves said, holding up the new home jersey. “If you know it, you know it. I’ve missed them a lot.”
Reaves is unique because he played for the team when they were the Washington Redskins, the Washington Football Team, and the Washington Commanders. The veteran has worn several different uniforms, but has made it known in the past that he prefers the traditional style of the Super Bowl era.
The team was also impressed with the new black uniforms. Wide receiver Treylon Burks stated that the black jersey was his favorite, while new linebacker Leo Chenal declared that the black helmets were “all kinds of cool.”

It seems like the new uniforms achieve the best of both worlds. They satisfy fans who miss the look they grew up with, while maintaining the new “Commanders” identity. Now that the appearance has improved, the hope is that the play on the field will also improve in 2026.
