The Portland Trail Blazers have done it. While it took some bad luck for Victor Wembanyama to finally be ruled out, they tied this NBA Playoff series 1-1 as they head home to Moda Center. Usually an upset like this meant Deni Avdija exploded, but that wasn’t the case in Game 2. Instead, it was Scoot Henderson who stepped up and ended a 405-day personal drought by scoring 30 points.

The Trail Blazers defeated the Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs due to Henderson’s heroics

Scoot Henderson saw that Spurs were without Victor Wembanyama after half-time and began to explode. He played an insane 38 minutes and tortured the Spurs defense in Game 2. The Trail Blazers guard scored 31 points while making 64.7% of his field goals. Much of his scoring came from beyond the arc, as he made five of his nine three-point attempts.

This is the first time, on March 12, 2025, that Henderson managed to score 30 points again. His performance in Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs against the Spurs defense was the first time in 405 days that he broke the 30-point barrier again. This was the most points he earned in that same time period, according to StatMuse.

Additionally, Henderson now ties Victor Wembanyama as the two players from the 2023 draft class to score 30 points in the NBA Playoffs. If they continue down this path, Henderson will be the main key for the Trail Blazers to go far in the NBA Playoffs. He becomes the main scorer supporting Jrue Holiday, Deni Avdija, Robert Williams and Toumani Camara.

This NBA Playoffs Game 2 crash was an anomaly because Wembanyama had to be ruled out due to concussion protocol. Once Henderson does this again, but with the Spurs DPOY in the rotation, he will cement himself in league history.
