The move was expected, as Flowers surpassed 1,000 yards and made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons. With the decision, Flowers will remain in Baltimore through the 2027 NFL season. After earning just over $2 million in 2026, Flowers’ salary will increase to approximately $27 million in 2027 due to the option.

After being selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Flowers became the team’s top receiving option. He showed his potential as a rookie, posting 858 yards and five touchdowns, earning him some Rookie of the Year votes.
It has improved every year since then. During his sophomore season, Flowers finished with 1,059 receiving yards and four touchdowns. That performance was enough to push Flowers to the Pro Bowl, making him the first wide receiver in team history to receive that honor. Before Flowers, the team had three different wide receivers make the Pro Bowl, but as returners, not wide receivers.
Flowers then built on that performance in 2025, gaining a career-high 1,211 yards and scoring five more touchdowns. Once again he was chosen to the Pro Bowl.
Despite his improved numbers, Flowers has yet to be a great touchdown scorer in the NFL. He has primarily been a long-range scorer, with only four of his touchdowns inside the 10-yard line. During his time in Baltimore, the team has had strong tight ends (and running back Derrick Henry) shut down Flowers’ production in the red zone.

With a new coaching staff in Baltimore, that could change. Flowers has shined as a potential star in the past, but the team’s limitations have resulted in the Ravens really prioritizing run during Flowers’ NFL career.
Overall, that worked well for the team, so a turn is not guaranteed. But if the new staff decides to opt for a more passing-based approach, Flowers stands as one of the key players who could benefit the most from that change. As evidenced by the exercise of his fifth-year option, the new regime clearly believes in Flowers’ ability to take another step forward.
