The Los Leones corridor, David Montgomery, had 12 haunts for 151 yards and two touchdowns in the victory on Monday night over the Ravens, and that made Campo Mariscal Jared Goff reflect on the fate that Montgomery feels for a teammate.
Montgomery played his first four seasons for the Bears before signing with the lions in 2023, and Goff said he had been a great admirer of Montgomery’s work even before becoming his teammate.
“I saw D-Mo from the whole field for years in Chicago and I was surprised when they let him walk. When we landed, I thought: ‘Holy smokes, we only got one of the best back of the league,” Goff said.
A month after signing Montgomery, the Lions wrote Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round, investing big in another corridor at a time when most of the NFL teams were devaluing the position. Goff thinks it has been largely worth it for lions.
“Write Gibbs and it’s like, ‘Wow, we have two of the best back of the League,” said Goff. “They feed on each other, both are incredibly workers and good players. The energy that feeds together, one of them works well and the other also wants to run well. They are as good as it becomes.”
