Anthropic Announces New Legal Software Powered by Claude as SaaS Stocks Continue to Struggle

Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) is expanding its presence in the legal software market as it continues to grow its enterprise presence.

The latest offerings include integration with platforms already used by law firms, such as Box (BOX) and Thomson Reuters (TRI), add-ons designed for specific tasks and roles, such as corporate counsel, regulatory counsel and law students, and integration with Microsoft (MSFT) 365.

The launch comes just a week after Anthropic unveiled its Claude for financial services, which includes 10 customizable AI agents for financial users, the ability to use Claude’s financial capabilities in Microsoft 365, and the option to connect Claude to more applications.

It also comes as the software industry continues to deal with the fallout from the initial debut of Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, which has hit software stocks on fears the AI startup will steal market share from existing enterprise platforms.

Anthropic’s new legal products could raise even more concerns about the future of legacy enterprise services.

The company’s latest products feature 20 Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors, which allow Claude to connect to existing data pools and tools in applications. That includes the ability to use Claude with programs like DocuSign (DOCU), Ironclad, Datasite, and other legal software.

There are also 12 practice area add-ons designed to help workers with specific tasks. For example, AI governance advice is used for case triage, AI impact assessments, review of vendor AI, and analysis of gaps between regulations and policies.

An associated litigation add-on helps with preparing depositions, creating chronology from document productions, and writing short sections.

Adding Claude to Microsoft 365 for legal teams allows them to use the AI assistant to classify incoming work, flag contract requests, and more.

Anthropic is focusing primarily on the enterprise market as it prepares for a possible initial public offering later this year.

According to the company, its revenue rate in 2026 exceeded $30 billion, up from $9 billion last year.

It also doubled the number of companies spending $1 million a year, from 500 to more than 1,000 in two months.

CEO Dario Amodei has said some software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies could go bankrupt if they don’t develop enough moats to keep AI companies at bay.

“I think it’s very possible that individual SaaS companies will lose market value, go out of business, go bankrupt, but it depends on the response,” Amodei said during a conversation with journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin and JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon at Anthropic’s The Briefing: Financial Services event last week.
