Rokeby Resources has announced a 20-year renewal of mining license MIN 4921 (ML 4921), a significant part of the recently acquired Omeo Gold Project in Victoria, Australia.
The extension ensures operational sustainability until 13 May 2044 under the Victorian Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990.
The mining license covers the Mt Wills gold deposit, which includes the Maude and Sunnyside deposits, part of the project’s historical mineral resource estimate of 320,000oz gold at four grams per tonne (g/t) gold.
This estimate was previously disclosed by the company in April 2026, although it is not reported in accordance with the Joint Committee on Mineral Reserves Code (2012).
The renovation consolidates Rokeby’s long-term control over the main Omeo project site.
This supports its strategy to enhance exploration efforts, expand resources and proceed with development assessments.
Future initiatives on the project will focus on exploration activities aimed at increasing the size and scope of the current historical high-grade estimate.
Historic drilling efforts have revealed several high-grade intercepts, with mineralization still open across a 5.8km zone.
The Sunnyside deposit is identified as an important target for future exploration.
Rokeby Resources intends to begin drilling at Sunnyside as soon as acquisition and permitting procedures are completed.
Trevor Benson, CEO of Rokeby, said: “The renewal of ML 4921 for a further 20 years is an exceptional result for Rokeby and materially strengthens the long-term value proposition of the Omeo high-grade gold project. Securing long-term tenure over the core resource area provides the company with a strong platform to execute our exploration and growth strategy with confidence.
“Importantly, the renewed mining license covers a historically productive high-grade gold deposit with significant exploration advantages, existing infrastructure and multiple potential development avenues to be evaluated. The renewal further reinforces the strategic importance of the Omeo project as a core asset for Rokeby.”
