The information was provided by its observers in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), who condemned the increase in Israeli attacks as families prepared to observe Eid al-Adha.
They said six women and seven children were among those killed in four airstrikes on May 26 and 27.
Death, displacement and deprivation
Besides, Israeli forces have killed 922 Palestinians in attacks since the ceasefire was announced in Octoberbringing the total death toll since the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023 to almost 73,000according to local authorities.
At least 32 children and eight women have been killed in attacks since the truce.
Meanwhile, Palestinians remain deprived of adequate shelter, essential medicines, food and other necessities as the blockade of Gaza continues.
Almost the entire population remains displaced and concentrated “in one progressively narrower strip of land”, with multiple displacement orders issued in recent days.
Terrible conditions, “unthinkable” attacks
Human rights investigators also addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement Thursday that he ordered Israeli forces to expand their deployment to cover 70 percent of Gaza territory.
They said the continued contraction of areas available to civilians raises questions about accessing humanitarian assistance and seeking safety.
Ajith Sunghay, head of the human rights office in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, said his concern about the commission of war crimes in Gaza has not ceased.
“It is difficult enough to live life in chronic displacement in the ruins of Gaza, under blockade and after Israeli attacks virtually destroyed all essential systems: healthcare, education, food production, law enforcement and civil order,” he said.
“It is unthinkable to continue attacking militarily a population that lives in these conditions..”
Airstrike lands near humanitarian facilities
Separately, the U.N. aid coordination office, OCHA, said an airstrike on Thursday hit a residential area near five humanitarian facilities in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. No victims were reported.
This followed an order from the Israeli army to shelter in place shortly before the attack.
The UN agency also continues to call for the opening of more crossings into Gaza to allow in humanitarian aid and commercial supplies, as only one, Kerem Shalom, remains operational.
Partners provided mental health and psychosocial support, as well as other protection, to more than 10,000 people between May 11 and 17.
These services – including recreational activities, art and theater sessions, counseling and parent support – were provided in shelters, camps, schools and displacement sites.
“Partners reiterate that to continue these services – particularly for children and adolescents – fuel, safe spaces, staff and other basic resources are needed,” OCHA said.
