Thomas Tuchel says he wanted to retain the same team that hit Serbia 5-0 in the last game of England, since he explained why several big names in the group were missing.
England revealed the last team for the international of October on Friday morning, with the National Team without changes of the victories about Andorra and Serbia in the World Cup qualification last month. Bukayo Saka has returned to replace his injured teammate of Arsenal Noni Madueke in the most notable change.
Jude Bellingham has returned to action with Real Madrid after an injury and was appointed the England player of the 2024/25 season this week, while Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have found shape in the Premier League, but none of the trios has been selected.
Tuchel’s team plays Wales in a friendly in Wembley next Thursday before traveling to Latvia to continue her classification campaign.
“Han Solo three weeks since the last camp and the last victory (against Serbia), the last performance. So the question was, why not bring the same group?” Tuchel explained. “Because they establish the standards and now it is about creating habits.
“Unfortunately, we have two injuries at this time, Tino (Livramento) and Noni (Madueke), and we bring, of course, Bukayo Saka to replace Noni and Jarell Quanseah was a late call the last time. He will stay in the camp.”
