Michigan’s five-star RB Savion Hitter earns USA Today Watch List honor for 2025 season

Michigan football has the No. 10 class in the country according to 247Sports team rankings. With several top-tier chip recruits committed to the Wolverines, the Maize and Blue are building off a solid 2025 class with another stellar class in 2026.

While there are plenty of high-end players committed, there is one crown jewel: Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star running back Savion Hiter.

Hiter is the highest-rated running back commitment Michigan football has had in the modern era. Rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 8 player in the country regardless of position, Hiter figures to make an early jump at the college level, even in a room that boasts plenty of talent.

He is thriving at the high school level, as one would expect, and as a result, has made the USA Today HSS 2025 All-Us-USA Soccer Team Watch List, over the many toilbacks being monitored.

Savion Hiter, Senior, Louisa County (Mineral, Virginia)

Inside the decision: The No. 1 running back in the class of 2026 has posted notable stat lines, including 328 yards and three touchdowns against Courtland (Spotsylvania, Virginia) and 261 yards and three touchdowns against Matoaca (Chesterfield, Virginia).

While no other Michigan commit made the watch list seriously, Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga Edge’s other five-star running back Carter Meadows was listed as an asset to watch as he plays out the year. The Wolverines have one target on the roster, 2027 Indianapolis (Ind.) LAWRENCE NORT NORTH RECEIVER RUSH FIVE MONSHUN Sales, the No. 6 player in the country.

Other players who didn’t make the list but certainly could have included defensive tackle Titan Davis, wide receiver Travis Robinson (who is breaking out into his senior year), offensive tackle Malakai Lee and tight end Matt Ludwig.
