Roshn Saudi League champions Al Ittihad have confirmed Sergio Conceicao as their new coach.

The Jeddah club, which won the title last season with two games remaining, announced this Wednesday the arrival of the former Porto and AC Milan coach. Conceicao, 50, has signed a contract until 2028.

The Portuguese, who replaces Laurent Blanc on the bench, becomes the seventh coach of his homeland in the RSL this season.

In a video posted on Al Ittihad’s official media channel, Conceicao said: “Victory is not a choice; it is an identity that defines us.

“Rivals may change and their allies will fall, but the champion remains. The champion owns the game. I am Sergio Conceicao. I came to build glory with Ittihad.”

Capped 52 times by his country, Conceicao spent seven years as Porto coach from 2017, leading the club to three Portuguese league titles and eight further cups before moving to AC Milan midway through last season.

He helped lead the team to finish eighth in Serie A and to the Italian Cup final.

Conceicao takes charge of a third-placed Al Ittihad in the 2025-26 RSL, with three wins in their first four games. Their only defeat this season, the last at home to Al Nassr, marked the end of Blanc’s 14-month tenure.

Arriving in the Kingdom early Thursday, Conceicao will make his RSL debut in the opening match of Week 5, visiting Al Fayha on October 17.
