When the Washington Commanders waived wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown over the weekend, it wasn’t a surprise. Monday’s game against the Chicago Bears will be the third straight game both receivers have missed. However, fellow receiver Deebo Samuel was also on the injury report and head coach Dan Quinn said his injury could be downgraded to Monday before the game.

Good news. Samuel will be on the field for the Commanders on Monday against the Bears. Lisa Salters, who will be on the ABC/ESPN sideline for Monday Night Football, relayed to Adam Schefter that Samuel is expected to play.

That shouldn’t be a surprise, considering Samuel missed practice time with a heel injury before the Week 5 game against the Chargers. Samuel not only played, he was outstanding, catching eight passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.

The Bears are still without top cornerback Jaylon Johnson, but they get Kyler Gordon back for Monday night. Gordon could see a lot of Samuel.

Samuel, who was acquired for a fifth-round pick, has 30 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns. He also has one rushing touchdown and is among the league leaders in kickoff return average. Samuel has returned fewer kicks recently with McLaurin and Brown out. Wide receiver Luke McCaffrey has filled that role for Washington.
