Club América defeats Philadelphia Union
Scorers: Veiga 20′
The first leg in Philadelphia was a modest affair for Unión, as Club América gained a marginal lead after 90 minutes of play. The difference came down to just a moment of magic.

Attacking midfielder Raphael Veiga, 30, was left unmarked in the box, and when Brian Rodriguez broke through the Union defense, he was allowed to easily collect the ball and prepare for the volley.
Unfortunately, goalkeeper Andrew Rick was unable to help the home team.
With the clock showing more than 70 minutes and changes remaining, the Union failed to muster any real strength in their attack. At the end of full time, they had not had a shot on goal and therefore failed to achieve a possible draw or overall comeback.
Club América will love to have a small advantage heading into the second leg, but there is still plenty to play for on March 18 in Mexico City.
Coming up, it will be an all-Mexican affair as Monterrey takes on Cruz Azul and LAFC hosts Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in tonight’s final.
