Liverpool will soon receive a final asking price for one of their preferred attacking targets.

Despite spending £450m in the summer transfer window (on the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike), there is a feeling that the Reds are not done ramping up their attack.

Next summer we could see the Premier League champions try to find a buyer for Mohamed Salah, who turns 34, and we could also see an upgrade for Cody Gakpo on the left.

Michael Olise and Antoine Semenyo are two names that have caught the eye in recent months, but there’s another long-time favorite that could soon be back on the menu.

Aston Villa prepare new deal for Rogers

Morgan Rogers, 23, was previously proposed as a possible arrival at Anfield With Aston Villa struggling to meet PSR requirements. But Unai Emery’s team recouped the money through sales elsewhere and Rogers remained Villa’s attacking fulcrum.

The England international could STILL end up leaving in 2026, given Villa’s lack of financial margin. And Liverpool, along with six other big clubs, have expressed formal interest.

That’s according to a new report from TEAMtalk, which claims Villa are ready to insert a release clause into Rogers’ contract.

Currently tied to Villa until 2030, following a renewal less than 12 months ago, it has been reported that Villa want to add another year to that deal. And the release clause, when it arrives, will be set at £100m.

New Rogers deal will have £100m clause

“Villa is immersed in advanced negotiations that will extend Rogers’ contract until 2031, adding another year to his newly signed contract for 2030,” the report reads.

“The deal will include a buyout clause that looks like a ransom note for the Premier League’s super-rich – it is understood to be in the region of £100m.

“Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, PSG, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham have registered formal interest.”

It seems like a steep price, but Richard Hughes may consider it worth paying given Rogers’ quality and ability to improve.

Rogers is now an established England star

He scored four goals and added three assists in the Champions League last season for Villa, emphasizing his ability to perform at the highest level.

This term, his production has decreased a bit, but he is still a force to be reckoned with.

Furthermore, the former Middlesbrough player can play across the entire front line, lining up on the left wing, on the right, in attacking midfield and even as a centre-forward during his time at Villa Park.

Rogers is expected to be included in England’s FIFA World Cup squad next summer, performing excellently in the recent international window with a goal against Wales.
