With fall break in full swing, several area schools decided to turn on their Friday night lights a day early.
Thursday night’s action saw Quinton and Eufaula bounce back from losses and Wilburton added to its district resume. Hartshorne, Savanna and Canadian suffered losses in fall break games.
Quinton defeats Keota 50-0
The Savages (Class B 6-1, 1-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season, defeating the Lions (Class B 2-4, 1-1) on Thursday for their first district win of the season.
Quinton hopes to keep his district’s momentum going next week when it plays Dewar (Class B 5-2, 2-0) on the road. The Dragons defeated their first two district opponents in Canadian and Savanna by a combined 108-0.
Quinton plays Dewar at 7 pm on October 24 as a visitor.
Wilburton defeats Antlers 35-18
The Diggers (Class-2A 6-1, 3-1) continue their dominant season by taking on the Bearcats (Class-2A 2-5, 1-3) on the road on Thursday.
Wilburton has positioned itself well in district play, easily beating teams with lesser records. The only loss of the season came at the hands of Henryetta (Class-2A 4-3, 2-2) in the second district game of the season.
In the coming weeks, Wilburton will see its biggest tests of the entire season. The team will face Vian (Class-2A 6-1, 4-0) next week and Valliant (Class-2A 7-0, 4-0) the week after that.
Wilburton plays Vian at 7 pm on October 24 as a visitor.
Eufaula defeat
Stigler 49-42
The Ironheads (Class-3A 2-5, 2-2) bounced back from their loss a week ago and posted a win over the Panthers (2-5, 1-3) on Thursday at home.
Eufaula plays again at 7 pm on October 23 as a visitor at Idabel.
Hartshorne falls to Rejoice Christian 49-14
The Miners (Class-2A 4-3, 3-1) suffer their first district loss at the hands of Rejoice Christian (Class-2A 6-1, 4-0), the top-ranked team in their class.

Savanna falls to Caddo 55-8
After a four-game stretch in which they averaged 68 points per game, the Bulldogs (Class B 3-4, 0-2) scored their first touchdown in the last two weeks in their loss to the Bruins (Class B 7-0, 2-0) on Thursday.
Savanna scored its only touchdown in the first quarter and successfully converted the two-point play, but Caddo’s offense countered that with 41 points of its own in the period. The game ended at halftime after the Bruins scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter.
Quarterback Aiden Totani suffered an injury during Thursday’s game. Totani has been working on a breakout year, highlighted by his 442 rushing yards in Savanna’s 88-84 win over Wilson-Henryetta in week one.
Savanna plays the Canadian at 7 pm on October 24 as a visitor.
Canadian falls to Dewar 52-0
The Cougars (Class B 1-6, 0-2) are still searching for their first district win of the season following their loss to the Dragons (Class B 5-2, 2-0) at home on Thursday.
Canadian next plays Savanna at 7 pm on October 24 at home.
